Foundation
On the court, my job is to assist my teammates in making shots. Off the court, my passion is to assist at-risk youth in reaching their full potential. That’s why I started the RAJON RONDO Foundation, to provide children living in low-income areas with safe, reliable resources and hope for the future.
If it had not been for instrumental people and opportunities in my life at an early age, I would not have become the person that I am today. By working together to give children hope and constructive outlets, we can be that instrument to provide positive change.
I firmly believe that it takes just one person to turn a child’s life around.
In the game, I rack up assists for my teammates. Now, I need the assists from you. I’m asking my fans and supporters to assist me in helping children that need opportunities, mentors, and direction by participating in my $5 for 1 fundraiser.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
For every assist I get in a game, you donate $5. Just $5 can change a kid’s life. Working together, we can make a difference in the lives of millions of youth all over the country.
For the past five years, I’ve been working with the Kid’s Day program at Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC). This organization gives children that have been abused or neglected the opportunity to build better relationships with their families and provides them with a safe, positive environment to do it in.
As a rookie, I really bonded with these kids. The first time I went to visit them; I noticed that they didn’t have new shoes or clothes for going back to school at the end of the summer. That hurt me because I remembered how much I looked forward to the first day of school, and how important it was for me to have a new outfit and a new pair of shoes for the first day. At that point, it was a no brainer for me-I had to take them shopping. Since then, I continue to visit them, help with homework, take them shopping and take them on field trips around the city.
My goal now is step up my philanthropic efforts through the RAJON RONDO Foundation. By supporting organizations like the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and others doing great work around the country, the RAJON RONDO Foundation will provide opportunities for at-risk youth to gain access to safe, reliable resources that will help them reach their full potential.
